How to apply to become a resident at St Mary's
St Mary's has 39 almshouses and vacancies are only rarely available. In 2023 only one almshouse letting became available. For this reason Trustees will not be considering any new applications before September 2024.
Prospective applicants who wish to submit an application for residence are welcome to so but must appreciate that they will not be considered until September 2024, at the earliest.
To be eligible for residency applicants must:
- Be of limited financial means.
- Be in sufficiently good health to cook and housekeep for themselves.
- Be of good character.
- Have resided for the five years preceding their application in an ecclesiastical parish in the Diocese of Chichester, any part of which is within 15 miles of the Cathedral Church of Chichester.
- Be in sympathy with the religion of the Church of England.
