The role of Custos at St Mary's goes back to the earliest days of the medieval hospital. Our current Custos, Reverend Brian Cunningham, was appointed in October 2023, having previously been a Chaplain at several leading schools.
As an ordained minister of the Church of England, Brian's role is to look after the pastoral and spiritual needs of St Mary's residents and to conduct daily services for residents in our medieval chapel.
